History & Experience


Drake Tool & Design was founded in late 2003 by four mold makers in a small, crowded 2,400 square-foot building. Today, we employ 7 full-time and 3 part-time people in our 10,000 square foot facility. Our equipment and facilities are of the highest quality, and we take great pride in our on-time deliveries and follow-up customer service second-to-none.

At Drake Tool & Design, you can rest assured your tools will always be MADE IN THE USA by experienced tool makers with over 170 combined years’ experience.

Meet the Owners


Scott Barwick

Scott received his education at Central Community College - Hastings. He has worked at various tool shops in the area before starting his own shop with three of his best friends.In 2017, he acquired full ownership which enabled his son, Brandon, to become part-owner, extending Drake Tool & Design’s ambition of quality, long-term customer service. Before starting Drake Tool & Design, he held many titles and positions including: Training/Lead Tool Maker, Programmer, Designer, Mold Troubleshooter, and Shop Supervisor.  Today, Scott enjoys executing those duties in his own shop in addition to interacting with customers. He brings over 30 years of experience to the Drake Tool & Design team.

Brandon Barwick

Brandon received his Associate’s degree from Southeast Community College - Milford and advanced certification from Central Community College-Hastings. He worked for a neighboring shop for several years, building injection molds, compression molds, dies, welding fixtures, and operating their 4-axis horizontal milling machine. In 2011, he joined the Drake Tool & Design team, creating the Custom Horizontal Machining Division and eventually becoming part of the ownership. In addition, he is the current shop supervisor.
